From AOL News<\/a>:<\/p>\n In McDonald, Pa., 30 miles southwest of Pittsburgh, fourth-grade students at Fort Cherry Elementary put Columbus on trial this year — charging him with misrepresenting the Spanish crown and thievery. They found him guilty and sentenced him to life in prison.<\/p>\n "In their own verbiage, he was a bad guy," teacher Laurie Crawford said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Dennis: "As soon as I say this, I will be accused of being sexist, but it is no more sexist than assuming that a group of kids who beat someone up are male.<\/p>\n "Why did I assume it was a female? We have a feminization of society. It takes greater reference to feelings than to standards. Males are more standards and law-oriented.<\/p>\n "When they have studied men and women’s reactions to car crashes, men have reported on the makes and models of the cars in the crashes, while women have reported on how the people in the cars were feeling.<\/p>\n "I don’t care how fourth-graders feel. I care that they learn. That’s masculine.<\/p>\n "I taught high school. I never asked, how do you feel about it? When I was in high school, I did not care about how the other kids felt about X,Y, or Z. If the teacher doesn’t have anything to teach me, you should not teach.<\/p>\n "This is how a lot of the liberal wings of Judaism and Christianity are teaching their clergy. You don’t really teach because that implies a hierarchy, that you know more than your audience. You ask them how they feel. You send around a text and you get people’s reactions. My view is, if my clergy does not know more than me about the religion, they shouldn’t be up there.
