\n\u201cAsh (Pollard) said today, \u2018God I need a shag\u2019, and I said, \u2018Darl, I haven\u2019t had a shag in six years,\u201d 43-year-old Malkah told the Olympian.
\nLater in the conversation with Curry, Malkah dished on her male friend in South Australia.
\n\u201cI haven\u2019t seen him for a long time. We were teenage friends,\u201d she said. \u201cAs soon as I can get a couple of weeks off I am going to go and stay in a hotel within walking distance from him and see how it goes.
\n\u201cWe\u2019ve discussed that there may not be any physical chemistry between us,\u201d she added. \u201cWe are getting on really well on the phone. We\u2019ve had marathon phone calls. We are like teenagers. We spent literally seven hours on the phone one night together. It is ridiculous.\u201d
\nMalkah and billionaire James Packer dated in the mid-90s for five years and had a two-year engagement, before separating in 1998. Last November she told KIIS FM\u2019s Kyle and Jackie O the split was mutual.
\n\u201cIt was just talking about the time that we needed to spend together and he just said, \u2018My job\u2019s too stressful and if I need to go off and do whatever I want I need to be able to do that,\u2019 and I said, \u2018That\u2019s not the sort of marriage that I want.\u2019 It was sort of mutual in a way,\u201d she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\nBut now Tziporah Malkah, formerly known as Kate Fischer, is back in the spotlight as a contestant on I\u2019m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!, a reality show famous for featuring D-listers looking for a career revival.
\nMalkah, 42, made her reappearance on national television by being spun around in a box filled with insects and had to fill in fellow contestants on what host Dr Chris Brown called \u201cher previous life\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nA portrait of her by Australian painter Paul Newton was a finalist in the prestigious Archibald Prize exhibition – the painting is believed to now be in James Packer\u2019s private collection.
\nSo what is she doing now, where did it all go wrong, and why is she suddenly back in the public eye? This is how she explained it on Monday night\u2019s show.
\n\u201cI got outed recently in a tabloid magazine, dressed in a bedsheet collecting my mail and I looked absolutely hideous,\u201d she said, referring to Woman\u2019s Day, who published unflattering shots of her outside her home in Melbourne\u2019s leafy Toorak. Malkah had been on the cover of Woman\u2019s Day before, in 1997, looking glamorous in a crotchet bathing suit…<\/p>\n
\nApparently it means \u201cbird\u201d in Hebrew. Her family is Jewish (her mother is NSW member for Goulburn Pru Goward) but has not practised Judaism for many years.
\n\u201cI was given a gentile name to be in the street, but at home I\u2019ve always been Tziporah. I\u2019ve just decided to reclaim it,\u201d Malkah said.
\n\u201cIf anyone calls me \u2018Kate\u2019, \u2018Zippy\u2019 or \u2018Zip\u2019, they\u2019ve got three strikes and they\u2019re out. I\u2019ll let them know.\u201d
\nShe was born Katherine Helen Fischer, but legally changed her name to Tziporah Malkah in her early 20s. It\u2019s a family name passed down from her grandmother.
\nIn the \u2018About Me\u2019 section on her public Facebook page, she renounces her birth name.
\n\u201cTziporah is how I wish to be addressed,\u201d she wrote. \u201cYou won\u2019t get far with Kate – it is not my name and it is disrespectful for people to be wilfully rude and ignore this simple request.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nMalkah is open about the fact that at 118.5kg, her doctor has classified her as \u201cmorbidly obese\u201d. Her weight has made her the target of ridicule on social media, with some criticising her for not wearing a bra in the jungle.
\n\u201cI\u2019m going to lose at least 20kg, hopefully much more. I\u2019m way too heavy and it\u2019s time to trim down,\u201d she told New Idea last year.
\n\u201cThis is doctor\u2019s orders \u2014 he says I\u2019m morbidly obese. My blood pressure is way too high and I\u2019m likely to die prematurely unless I lose weight. So my life depends on this. I\u2019m ready!\u201d
\n\u201cI don\u2019t advocate fatness or thinness, but some of us fight the good fight in regards to our weight all the time.
