Tabletmag<\/a>: On September 7, The Times of Israel published an interview with Norman Podhoretz, the 86-year-old former editor of Commentary, author of Making It (one of Tablet\u2019s 101 greatest Jewish books), and perhaps the most influential figure in the early years of neoconservatism.<\/p>\n In the interview, Podhoretz said he planned on supporting Donald Trump for president more out of his own dislike for Clinton, for whom he has \u201cno respect whatsoever\u2026on any front,\u201d than any real admiration for the Republican nominee. \u201cWhile I can\u2019t predict for you what Trump will do about anything,\u201d he said, \u201cI can predict for you what Hillary will do about everything.\u201d<\/p>\n He singled out Trump\u2019s opposition to the Iran deal out as a specific factor in his decision, calling the agreement \u201cone of the most catastrophic actions that any American president has ever taken.\u201d He also doesn\u2019t want any Democrat overseeing the U.S.-Israel relationship. \u201cI think there is no question that on Israel the Democrats can no longer be trusted,\u201d Podhoretz said. \u201cThe liberal community, generally, and the Democratic Party, particularly, have grown increasingly unfriendly to Israel over 50 years, and it\u2019s reached a point now where there are elements within the party who are positively hostile to Israel, and many who are simply cold and unfriendly.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Umm, no.
