Who Is Shannon Orand?

A friend of Orand’s notes on Daat Torah:

1) Shannon Orand is not a spy for the CIA, or a double agent. She is a sincere mother of 2 who has been dedicated to the Jewish faith and obviously more active in the Jewish community than any normal convert. She has worked with kiruv organizations since her journey began (which she says was nearly 4 yrs ago, not 2 1/2). The Rabbi’s who hired her obviously trusted her. Her resume even states that she began to teach classes in an online Torah learning group. They trust her to lead other Jews – even working for EJF itself, but she can’t get a conversion??????? Yes, something stinks here!

2) There was no sex between R’ Tropper and Shannon Orand!! The tapes are discussing her refusal to commit actual acts with men. He calls her pet names, but the whole arrangement was him wanting her to be with OTHER men.

3) Shannon Orand has many profiles (as herself and anonymously) on Messianic sites. She worked for 3 yrs as a counter missionary for Outreach Judaism, and continues this work with other organizations, such as Jewish Israel and Bridge Houston. It’s not uncommon for a counter-missionary to subscribe to their updates, participate in conversations, and monitor their activities. She can be found arguing the “Jewish Response” on Jews for Jesus blogs, Jewish Israel, and Chabad.org.

Jane emails: Shannon Orand is the best thing since slice bread. I wonder how did the Jewish people survive without her important services. According to this post, she even taught Torah on line! Is there a limit to her dedication? Thank you Rabbi Trooper for your outstanding Kiruv work. Bravo!
